1-800-GOOG-411: baby sounds on demand

google-maps.jpgI like how Google Local can connect you to a business from the “Send to phone” service without you lifting a finger. Then there are services like the one my wife uses, 1-800-FREE-411 to find out local contact information for businesses around our area.

After much cussin’ and advert avoidance she usually gets her information. It’s a free service so she has to suffer repeating herself to the machine-assisted service when it fails to “get” the name of the business (“Did you mean ‘Republican’?” Nooooooo!).

She hasn’t tried 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411), which aims to serve the same needs, except that it will actually connect you with your business of choice. I’m bad at remembering things so this Google service will actually shave off the 3 seconds it takes for me to jot down the phone number–I don’t have my wife’s recall abilities so this actually helps.
